CH -
I agree with you - It REALLY bothered me that I had to seat my 170 type grain bullets so deep in my 280AI… I have yet to pick up some PRC cases, I’ll see if Gordy’s has a couple he can spare. At the end of the day they are Long action - so I need to see the geometry for myself first hand on how the bullets rest when seated …
Both Kiff and Gordy have given me good feedback on the PRC builds now the the reamer spec’s were made whole a few years ago.. and the SAAMI stuff you are seeing are the results from that.…. I was going to build a 7 SAUM for competition so I’ll be comparing those.. Again the 7 SAUM … seating them too deep I HATE… which is why I haven’t pulled the trigger there yet.
Frankly - I’m now building a Benchrest rifle because I finally shot regular competition and placed in both matches… so everyone is telling me to make a run at it… so I am.. but my next build is a Dasher on a Bat B action with a Krieger barrel, and a Ronnie Milford stock…
IF I do a heavier than 6 creed / Dasher build for bench or PRS it will probably be a 30 cal because in KS we have WIND… and lots of it…. So a 7 might give a slight edge, but … ARGH…

Who doesn't want a new toy?
Who cares if your "ballisticly covered"?
Scratch that itch!
Bore size is no substitute for shot placement and Power is no substitute for bullet performance. 458WIN

If Hornady throws the 180 ELDM in match factory ammo, the 7PRC may be a hit.... You're in luck. Hornady will be offering the 7mm PRC ammo in the following configurations: Prof Hunter - 175gr ELD-X Outfitter - 160gr CX Prec Match - 180gr ELD-M DAMHIKT
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

What you can’t do with those loads has to be a short list.

One set went home with me along with an ELD-X seater stem and micrometer adjuster for the seating die.

I emailed Altus about the handle on the anti-x they have in stock and never heard back. Probably should just pick up the phone and call them.

My dealings with Altus via email have always been good, and replies received in a timely manner.
I'd guess that if they have an anTi in stock, it's not one with with either the 5* or 10* down- turn.

I know a 7 Rem can do the same thing if it’s rebarreled and care is given to the throat and OAL within chosen mag confines but like the 6.5 Creed, if a fella just wants a great rifle and a case of hunting ammo to make his life simple there is a lot of good about what the PRC is going to do. I’m so deep into the Mashburn Super I’ll likely die with it, but if someone were to ask me what would be a super BG killer, the PRC has it in spades if you just wanna push the easy button.
