Well I'm clueless as to scrap value, did a quick search and see this. This can't be even close can it? ‐---------------- What catalytic converters are worth the most for scrap? I have a trip planned to SoCal in a few weeks. I'm sorta worried as the Tacoma is easy enough to slide ride under as it sits. Does it have skid plates that might cover the cat? Some cats are mounted close enough to the exhaust mani so that might be too big a pain in the ass to mess with. Nope, maybe the front one, but the second one is pretty open as I recall.

That's something I'm thinking of. Unfortunately, the welding class I'm taking starts the day I'm supposed to be down south.

Cheap deterent.

A converter may cost more than a few hundred. Depending on if they get both, yes. Some Cali legal ones are in the neighborhood of $450, rear ones a bit higher. I'll be checking with my insurance agent too.
