The call most likely came from a cellphone. That only puts the location to the closest tower. The database would have identified the address if it came from a landline.
It is a horrific crime and the perp should do hard time for it.

I wasn't familiar with the term "swatting". Guess it means a swat team arrived. SWATTING is when you call in a false report that someone has said that he or she has a gun and is going to start shooting people, and he or she lives at ..... The purpose is to create a situation where the target will be harmed or killed by the SWAT team that arrives. The left has been doing this regularly for years now to conservatives, with no legal consequences. A favorite to be killed by cops that want to go home safe

I can't believe with the technology today, they can't lock onto and hold the open phone signal and find the physical location of the phone.

I can't believe with the technology today, they can't lock onto and hold the open phone signal and find the physical location of the phone. The "call" was via the internet, using a computer generated voice. Internet calls are untraceable. That should have been a clue to them that it was BS.

Couple of years ago a bomb threat was called in to a local school here. Within an hour and a half they had the caller in custody and charged. Sheriff said he could not reveal what lead them to the caller, but said the federales helped.  They know.
