I shot a Benelli SBE 2 for years, and it was 100% reliable. Sold it, and went back to a Remington 11-87, and it is 100% reliable as well.

Bought my H&K Benelli Super 90 Montefeltro in 1987; it has never, ever failed to cycle anything. Clean or dirty.

Between the recoil operated and the gas operated, I prefer the gas operated. That said, I bought my very first semi auto shotgun about 5 years ago. It's a Rem "Sportsman" 16 ga. Yeppers! Recoil operated! Don't like the "ring arrangement" conundrum, but it is what it is. I like the quick, effortless, soundless reload* for rapid following shots....and I'm a Win M12 "NUT"!!!! Most dependable? Good question! If I was THAT interested, I'd wear out Google, reading up on different makes and models.
* - I love turkey hunting. With a pump gun, the rattle of the slide will sometimes spook a second bird. With the semi auto, the "sound" of the reload is buried in the report. No extra sound. No extra motion.

Hunted with a few guys that shot 1100's. They all jam especially when the doves are flying hot and heavy and the guns get so
hot you cannot touch the metal and the plastic shells start to melt a bit. Yeah, forget the 1100's.

Been shooting Beretta 390 series forever for clays and hunting.
That being said my home defense shotgun is a Benelli M4

Have a Beretta al390 in 12 GA and a Benelli sbe3 in 20. They both work flawlessly but the sbe3 stays cleaner

I have a Remington 1100 and a Browning A5, been shooting them for over 40 years, never a problem with either, both have spent a lot of time in the dove fields and duck blinds and the 1100 was used for deer hunting also.

I’ve got a Winchester Super X-2 I use to duck and turkey hunt. It’s been extremely reliable.

We run 11-87’s here. Between shooting clays, and hunting. They’ve digested thousands of rounds. Never a problem.

Berretta are great when you get one that shoots straight. My extrema 1 was awesome, extrema 2 patterned low and left at 20 yards, a400 patterns left but not as bad as the x2.

Beretta 1301 or Benelli M4 and there are no comparisons.
I can give reasons but you’d probably just huff, puff, and mow the lawn again.
LOL

I shot a Rem 1100 for over 20 years and bought a Benelli. The Benelli blows the 1100 out of the water. Spend the extra for a Benelli and you will never be disappointed. Good shooting

LOL No. I'll be happy to hear what you have to say about them. I'll say that so far I'm looking at recoil operated actions. But the Benelli M4 action sounds interesting. I've read up on it but it's difficult to get a handle on what they're saying without having one disassembled in front of me.
