No, and hell no. I'm of the opinion the material acquisition process for batteries does far worse damage to our environment than drilling for fossil fuels.
So California, in it's infinite wisdom, decides to ban sales of all IC cars by 2035.
They can't even manage their power grid now. What's going to happen to it with the added demand? Rolling blackouts in the wintertime too? Ha!
Buncha morons. You nailed it, by the most conservative estimates, the EV TOTAL carbon footprint from mine to showroom floor is 3 times larger than a similar sized ICE vehicle using a lifespan of 200,000 miles. Which is not a fair comparison since there is insufficient data to predict EV reliable lifespan, so battery replacement is not included in the EV carbon footprint.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Hail no. EV’s are much worse for the environment than fossil fuel. The entire solar, wind green movement is making China rich and destroying our environment. Ask the eastern seaboard fishing industry what they think of wind. We don’t have enough land mass to support that crap. There’s going to be a great reckoning to deal with because of this foible. got that right .but democrats will never admitt they are wrong ,they will double down and force you too do it anyway

Batteries are for starting internal combustion vehicles, not for propelling them. They do very well in a hybrid configuration as they are able to add a lot of torque when the combustion engine is not in the meat of its band, or HP to cover turbo lag, etc etc.

As soon as the Big Three realize its more profitable to sell EV's...they will dump gas so fast it will make your head spin.

Wife has a five minute commute to the Hospital where they have free charging stations. If all our trucks/SUVs weren't already paid off for many years I'd be shopping nonstop for one. Keeping an eye out though.
New neighbor two doors down who just bought an ex-sheriffs house who moved to some mountain in Tennessee last year works at the Tesla plant in Fremont. Been chatting her up.
