We visit our daughter and family near Phoenix often. Except for the 100 miles of Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, it's all a gorgeous drive. So many kinds of mountain and rock interspersed with desert.

Nice! Thanks for posting.

We need more of this "Home Turf" stuff.

Still humid (50% to 90%) and hot here (mid/high 80s)... I miss dry SW air...

My brother in law got married there. I thought it was a cool place.

Awoke to a different world over here in the Blue Ridge this AM
47 on the front porch @ 6 this morn, clear air, 6 doe & fawn hopping around acting like it was manna from the heavens.

That SLC drive is brutal. A hundred miles of city traffic...

Damn... I could use some of that.

I'd head to Floyd to visit Glen 'cept for jury duty stand-by crap-ola.

BTW... Happy Birthday

Whenever we go to Vegas we always rent a car so we can drive out to Hoover Dam and Red Rock. Great scenery!

I miss that SW dry air too, being a desert rat. We’ve been in monsoon mode since the first part of August and I really don’t like it when the humidity gets much above 20%. This cool down was sure welcome though.

Rocky, have you tried taking the Lake Mead cutoff just North of Las Vegas, it is a nice scenic drive and you completly avoid going through the I-15/Las Vegas madness.

I moved to LV 50 years ago because of the climbing in Red Rock. There were only dirt roads out there and only a few climbers and hikers. The population of the valley was about 80k. If you were someone who liked to climb and ride dirt bikes it was like heavengrin.

Yeah , I know, the good old days.
Heading to RR used to be a rural drive, now it’s a sea of cracker box houses tightly packed together all the way out to the 159 turn off coming from the south.

Yep. Worked in the area in the early eighties. Always loved the view coming in from Apex back then. Not so much now. Red Rock always beautiful. Nice pics!

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.
