He has been charged with vehicular homicide. Max prison term of 20 years. I think this guy had a prior DUI as well. However, it also states: “Murder. A motorist can be convicted of murder for causing the death of another person while driving in a manner that shows "extreme indifference to the value of human life." The max prison term for that is life So if he intentionally hit the kid, his charge may be upgraded to murder. The following article states, “ If convicted on the vehicular homicide charge, Brandt would face a minimum of 10 years in prison because of a DUI on his record. The maximum for the crime is 20 years.
