What's the worst luck you've ever had right before deer season?

I Will start. I just broke my right shoulder and don't see anyway to hunt this year.

Well, that sucks. Overtime at work was my worst problem. I retired last year, so that’s no longer a concern. Get well quickly!

I came down with pneumonia two days before the opener one year. Missed the whole season.

My paternal grandfather died in the week before the opener. They scheduled his funeral for opening day.
I was a pall bearer, had to be there.

My wife's sister scheduled her wedding for an opening weekend, I told them I wouldn't be there. They moved the date. There were a lot of other hunters in the family that felt the same as me.

I've got appointments for cataract surgery 10/27 for right eye and 11/29 for left eye. Going to see if I can get those appointments changed.

When does season start OP? I’ll bet you can figure something out. If you hunt out of a box blind use a lead sled or if nothing else assuming that your right handed shoot left handed and use a .223 or other light recoiling cartridge. As long as you’re not climbing in to tree stands you should be able to figure something out.

I discovered I was too old and decrepit for it anymore. Sux.

Things called War or overseas duty stations can fuuuk up a deer season.

Not a hard thing to do with a rifle....
Adjust the eye focus on the scope to your left eye.
Whaddya got to lose???
And everything to gain...

A month to 6 weeks before your rifle season???

Also a good excuse to get a less recoiling rifle set up.
.223 or .243 maybe???

I owned three rifles when I got married. Finances demanded I sell two of them the next summer. I broke the singe remaining rifle, MIJ Wea MK V Varmintmaster in 22-250, five days before deer season.

Fortunately, embarrassed as I was to ask, I had sold the Ruger 77 in 25-06 to a good friend. He loaned it back to me for a week.

Slipped coming off a ladder and the way I landed was shoulder first with all my 210lbs. I fell about 10ft. It fuggin sucks.

I had cataract surgery just before last season and had an issue with my right eye. By the time the doc cleared me to shoot, the season was almost over.

Laughing about the pornhub comment... I'm right handed and my left thumb doesn't bend soooooo....

They told me no high power rifles for a month after mine. Try to do it first thing after the season is over. Are you getting the multifocal lenses? I can see near and far, no cheaters no mo!!! If you are in the Houston area, Dr. Jeff Whitsett is the best.

2018 I got West Nile Virus and encephalitis end of August, Hospital for a week on morphine due to the brain swell, lost 30 lbs. I was so weak I could not pull back my 70 pound bow with confidence 3 weeks later when I started to feel better.

I ended up buying a Ravin crossbow and shot a doe with it. It was OK but I went back to my Mathews after I was fully recovered.

I have an AR and a bolt action .223 also have a couple
.222's.
Guess in a couple weeks I will have to start practicing with shooting from my left side. It's actually something I've been wanting to do for a while now but just never got around to it. Guess I have the proper motivation now.
