First generation 45 Colts... Who does your grip work? The short barrel was done by King’s Gun Works for Hank Williams Jr. and I got the gun from him. The long barrel I got from Hank too, but I had a local smith make them. Believe it or not, that was his first set of Colt SAA grips…

No, at this stage I only buy weird uncommon stuff. I avoid .38 Spl/.357 because ammo is significantly more expensive, gold standard being 9mm Luger.

To those who wish to bully some poor fellow in a public way, please do that in some other thread and don’t clutter up this thread with petty insults. Simply ignore the guy and move on.

Anyone else had their hands on a S&W Model 940 9mm revolver? I find it a fascinating piece. Reloads using those 5 round moon clips are slick and fast. No wonder Jerry Miculek likes ‘em.

This is all that is left after I sold it: It was early one with Uncle Mikes boot grips, standard 2" barrel and regular J-frame (later guns were made on Magnum J-frame). It was difficult to shoot well with, heavy long DAO trigger pull with useless short grip. I replaced it with S&W combat grip pictured which made it little easier to shoot but little harder to conceal. I replaced with better larger more powerful revolver with much better DA/SA trigger pulls. You should have kept that gun original. The 3" barrel was only offered early in production for couple years or less, Boomers pay big premiums for stuff like that.

I feel sorry for those poor schmos who refuse to make a gun into exactly what they want it to be, out of fear that will reduce its resale value. Life is too short to waste it as a self-deprived slave to financial considerations, only to enrich one’s heirs.

I agree, as long as you are happy that is all that matters. I do not mind "night sights". When relatively new the illumination helps locate gun and determine where the barrel is pointing in darkness or real poor light conditions. That is one major reason to buy used Glock. Often Gen 3, 4, 5 can be had for less than new with perfectly functioning steel night sights. Sometimes they are Meprolight, Trijicon,.... which can cost $100 or more for free. I like free.

This Ruger Blackhawk .357 is awaiting its turn to receive just a bit more “alteration.” It already has a Wolff lightweight trigger spring and those not-really-ivory grips. But, it shoots enough left that it’s rear sight has been adjusted substantially to the right to compensate. Perhaps a little barrel tightening will reorient the front sight to top dead center, and allow the rear sight to be centered.

My 2nd model Hand Ejector Target 44. Opinion varies on just how many were made but most everyone agrees that it was less than 200. This one is from 1932 and wears a set of Magnas numbered to a slightly later gun, likely a Registered Magnum. I do carry it afield and shoot it some but only with mild loads.

Is that an appropriately protective flap holster in the background? Mild cast bullet loads are likely what that fine revolver was intended to shoot and probably the most accurate in it. .44SPL S&Ws can certainly be sweet shooters:
