Not Jasmine or Southern Long Grain. It’s Cal rose sticky rice. Not your traditional rice served with southern dishes, but I’m not a purist, for me rice is rice. img] https://i.imgur.com/1gb1Xu9.jpg[/img] Right on. Thanks for doing what you do to keep us fed!

When I used to eat rice, white or brown, gravy, butter, salt and pepper were all put to good use. Refried beans don’t stink on it either.
Alas, rice, egg noodles, pasta, taters, and (sniff!) bread, are all off the table, literally now. A few crackers and pretzels sneak by on occasion, in moderation.
My Chinese better half has reached her target weight, so gets to eat a little of above contraband. For me, riced cauliflower is as close as I get. What fresh hell you putting Pappy through ?? Might as well, eat this ! OTOH, I eat all the beef, bacon, eggs, chicken (with skin), seafood, butter, avocados, and cheese I want. This was my idea, she just climbed on board when she saw me dropping weight rapidly. I don’t miss the carbs and I’m down two pants sizes so far.
What fresh Hell is this?

A raw egg on hot rice. The hot rice will cook the egg. A little soy sauce to taste. Tomago kake gohan.

Spent some time at our parent company in Anjo City, Japan in 1991. Ate at the company cafeteria nearly every day. It was rough the few times they didn't have curry beef. Everything else was very fishy. I get a craving for it now and then. Golden Curry in the small, flat boxes is nearly identical to my former staple. Thinly sliced beef, lots of onions and Golden Curry over white rice. Heck yeah!

Rice farming getting pounded by water restrictions here in NorKal. This past season the family planted 1/2 of the 1000 acres we have. Guess I should get up there and figure out which dry field will be best for specks.

No, way more conventional headers being used. When the cutting gets rank that’s how we roll too, but in gravy condition’s It’s cheaper to strip.

The other day I bought a bag of Dragonfly brand Thai Sweet Jasmine, sticky rice. Darn good. Had it today with Italian meatballs, cold...

All our rice farmers are paid not to grow rice. They just take the money and let cows live on the fields. Kinda funny, since rice is a staple in Cajun country. Personally, I'd just as soon never see a grain of rice again.
