The big advantage in the 6mm is that's its easier on brass than the 243. I have a custom barrel for my Blaser R8 that has a 7 ¼ twist. It allows me to seat the long, heavies on out without having to deal with the mag length of a normal short action, like the 243.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^ and easily. No sense settling for less except that you already have.

I've had both the 6mm & 243, & will take the 6 over the 243.

But the flatbolt (old) Rugers had a lot of piss poor barrels, with some being just fine, so I'd shoot it a bit to see how it does before investing too much time in it.

Does not flow brass up into the neck as well as stretch.
All my 243s are converted to AIs.
