Why do all insist staying in states that are liberal chit holes?? Don’t give nugget the ol well it’s the grandkids or it’s this great job at the city morgue. Are you all broke dicks like nugget and can’t leave?? Nugget doesn’t live in a liberal chit hole just yet..

We stayed in Virginia.....things are better....for now, have back-up plan and house in a more redder state.
Slum and kin sorta scare me though.

When you connect your life for over 30 years to someone that refuses to leave because of family and friends it's not easy to leave.
Pensions, insurance, home, dogs, kids, contracts on vehicle loans, home loans, savings, investments.
Etc.
Why some of you can't understand that I don't know.

Some of them have magnificent natural beauty and recreational opportunities.

To be fair though, some folks can’t cut the apron strings.

I kind of figure it's none of my concern where or why a grown-ass man chooses to live. Especially one that I don't know and will most likely never meet.

We also have elderly parents tied to this place.
Mom is 87 and dad is turning 88 in a month.
I have one older brother here.
My wifes mother is 80 and not very healthy, wifes siblings are dead.

How, or why, would some of the things you listed tie a person to a certain place? Not trying to debate you, I simply don’t understand.

I was told by my boss to move to Fresno for a director level job. It was a high paying 6 figure job but I said no and quit. There's just no way I could raise my kids in Fresno. We don't have the money we used to but we do have quality of life in east idaho.

Three of the 4 regional managers underneath me quit within 6 weeks of me quitting. The big boss said that's ok you were all overpaid anyways. Their sales dropped by over 60 % the year after we all left.

Being allowed to live and raise your family in a decent place is top priority on my list. Many of my MBA classmates took fortune 100 jobs in big cities and everyone I've talked to regrets it. It's an ok move for a bit to build your resume but if your raising a family where you live is far more important than where you work in my opinion.

I think most here, even in blue states, don't live in the liberal bastions of those states - the large cities that create the blue spot on the map.

MI goes blue but in the UP - you could hardly tell, given the way people live, think, and the countryside. It's not Detroit for them. Same for WI - not named Madison/Milwaukee or Indian Reservation.

I don't know that we have any members from San Fran, Chicago, NYC proper here or if they are - haven't really said. All from places "elsewhere".

Yeah we do. One in SF that is working on his exit strategy, and there was a guy from Long Island that used to post some pretty damn nice bucks. Thats nyc or close enough.

"Well, the kids aren't grown yet", is a typical excuse while failing to realize if the kids are raised elsewhere odds are that's where they will stay and raise their children...Then there won't be the grandkid or old folks excuses.........
