It takes 38 rocking motions to open a c-ration size can?

Or, it is 38mm long. But this was before metric was common.
There was a larger one, called P51. It would take fewer motions, but was 51mm long.

Extra points for knowing how it got it's name. P38. I quit carrying mine but still have the scar from when it would work it's way open on my key chain and tear up my leg.

Bruce Yes and yes P38 was for personal sized cans. P51 was for "group" larger sized cans.

Still have my first P38, its showing its age, but it’ll still open a box or letter as well as ever.
When I was in, John Wayne bars were the MRE oatmeal cookie bar. Eat enough of those you be walking like John Wayne all the way to the crapper.
