Looking for an approximate value of a circa 1913-1914 vintage 1899 Savage Featherweight 2 barrel set, .30-30/.410 in original vintage condition. Original finish on wood and metal with VG bores, no alterations. Any help with value is appreciated. Thanks.

The 410 barrels didn't come out until later - 1921 was the first year they were available.

So the 410 barrel was added to the 1913 rifle at some later time. Maybe in 1921, maybe in 2022.

I price them as the sum of the parts.

IMO: 2K, maybe a little more, if in outstanding unmolested original condition. Work backwards from there based on condition.

In an auction setting could go higher if the right 2 people want it.

I've been seeing a 30/30 combo for sale for awhile somewhere. Was that gunbroker?

The rifle that I am inquiring about is from a friend's estate that I'm considering purchasing.

Clean 410 barrels have been going for.. $500? $600?

Going to have to be a really, really nice 1899H to hit $1400-$1500 to me.

But some people will pay crazy prices for an 1899/99 paired with a 410, not knowing they didn't come from the factory together.

The rifle's receiver and 30-30 barrel will have interrupted threads if the barrel is original. You can check the barrel address to see it it dates to about 1913. Savage used the same barrel address from 1911 to 1919. The 410 barrels were introduced after the TD's went to full threads and will have full threads.

143,3xx would not be full threaded if the barrel is original. It would be a quarter turn and pull off.

The serial number places the receiver around the fall of 1913. Full threaded takedown barrels started in fall of 1919.

How would a quarter turn barrel work with a full threaded receiver ? This rifle has full thread barrels and receiver.

A quarter turn barrel will thread into a full threaded receiver and vice versa. You simply can't employ the "stick it in and turn" feature.

Hadn't thought of it that way, you're right of course.
