To this point, it's been a pretty meagher hunting season for me (pun intended, as my land is in Meagher county). Had only seen some does, no bucks, no elk. I went up to the land yesterday and at first saw nothing, then the does came out last night and this morning this guy was all horned up. He ended up all hornady'd up when I snuck in and put a 139 gr GMX into his noggin. Got a button buck this week. Smallest antlers on a deer I ever got, except maybe for a one horned buck a few years ago. He ran down a cliff and stopped 10 yards in front of me and dared me to shoot him with my 45-70. I obliged.
They’re all good eating.

He looked over at me, I shot, and he folded up without taking a step. I usually go for the heart shot but this was closer than usual for me (150 yards) and I figured I'd go for the shot that would leave as much meat as possible undamaged.
