I do love a good .30/30 and the reason is that they just plain work. You should be proud of your wife for taking a nice buck. My son and I have taken deer this season with two different Marlins. A 1948 waffle top with iron sights and a 2003 shorty 336Y. My 170 grain handloads.

Nice!

Congrats to her!

Congrats to both of you. My Marlin 30-30 likes those 150 gr. Sierra FN's too; except it likes 170 gr. Hornady Interlock FP's with some Leverevolution even better. So that's my go to hunting load for woods hunting. Now if I could just get my wife interested in deer hunting...

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

My wife killed a spike when she was a kid just to show her older brother she could. Had a shoulder mount done so he wouldn’t forget. She hasn’t been hunting since. She does target shoot and loves shooting clay pigeons. She isn’t against hunting at all; just has no interest in it.
