Little man put one in the freezer this morning, not the biggest but for a 10 year old's first deer I will take it, about 75 yards, DRT. Through the center of the basketball. Everything like he was supposed to. I have deer to spare so the button buck is a confidence builder, and the grin was worth the effort!

I’ve never seen a rut like this before! Everywhere I look, here comes a doe followed by a buck with his tongue and pecker hanging out! My old man brought a nice 8 pointer by here he’d killed today. He’ll be 80 next month. I helped him skin and debone it as I have a better place to do it than he does. He really didn’t need my help.

We also have U.S. Forrest picnic areas that were abandoned in the early 70,s that we can hunt here also. That spot is about 20 miles down the road. About 125 acres in 2 parcels divided by a creek. Haven't been their yet this year either.
This COE spot is on a feeder creek into the Cumberland. They used to dredge out the creek for the boat launch/ picnic area. All on the Cumberland flood plain zone.
Got a 4200 acre state Forrest about 35 miles down the road also.
Plenty of places to hunt around here. Hear it all the time from people. I got no place to hunt around here. Have heard that from the Keeblers on slumlords place. Have heard it from neighbors.
I gave up being helpful to people long ago. I don't tell people nothing anymore trying to be helpful. Or bring them to hunting spots.
Hunt public lands on weekdays, schitty weather, late season.
Bubba hunts 5 or 6 days a yr mostly . Opening wknd of ml and rifle. Maybe one or 2 more Saturdays or Thanksgiving.
Even then Bubba can work for you.

Wish one would just come along scent checking trails and all these scrapes that are popping up all over. Just gotta put in the time on stand. It's november anything can happen.

We won’t see the rut here til last of Dec / first week of Jan.
Usually about 80* then.
🤬🤬.
Know a guy that hunted around Ross Barnett Rez in JXN.
Maybe not COE land, but similar.
Lot of it is accessed by boat only.
He killed some good bucks. No one wants to be on a boat or canoe in Jan. We will get a 2nd rut in Dec. Probably start of 4th week from what is going down now.

Saturday morning had doe/buck combos coming by so fast I couldn't get my rifle up much less get a shot off. Had four sets come by within the first hour and a half. One was a limping spike that I saw during mz and decided I'd give him a go if I saw him again. He came by at about 20MPH on 3.5 legs chasing a doe.

Heck, if spotted fawns were legal in your area for your kid to shoot I'd not care if he took one. I heard venison veal is tasty too. Congrats to little man!

Same in west central MO. Turkeys are getting to be a rare sight. Don't see many turkeys anymore, either. We had a couple really harsh winters back to back 2013 and 14, and it seems like that thinned them out a lot.

Was at least 2 or 3 inches outside of his ears. Blonde rack main beams look at him about 75 80 yds out. Moving like the energizer bunny on meth behind a doe. Chasing........ Like these does are just starting to hit the beginning of heat but just ain't receptive enough yet to stop and wait for their boyfriend to catch up or be coy too them. Been seeing does. But none walking stiff legged with tail up or straight back advertising.

I don’t know if it has to do with moon phases, weather, or what, but I want to think the rut is about 3 weeks late this year…and much more intense! Hell, I may strip off naked and chase the old lady around the yard after while.
