I think you unintentionally hit upon something profound. Things were never the same again, and the country has slowly turned to schit in the 59 years since.

As a Dallas-area native, I listened to criticism of Dallas for many years. This week, the local newspaper ran a story containing some of the letters and postcards sent to the city of Dallas - some were hateful. We lived many years with the shame directed our way.

Thank goodness for the Cowboys and the tv-show Dallas which gave people something else to think about when I told people that I am from Dallas.

Dallas has felt forced to leave this area of downtown untouched. And it is ugly and depressing. Badly needs to be rebuilt into something more positive. There is actually a train of thought to turn this area into something more meaningful.

I was 8 years old when it happened. I still have vivid memories of the funeral on black and white TV.

It also set off a serious gun control effort when it came out that Oswald had used a mail order gun. They soon put a stop to that along with numerous other restrictions. They've never quit piling it on.
