Anyone else using Winchester PowerPoint 22LR?
Seems to have greater "shock" power to me. Closer to 22 Mag. preformance.
Anyone else as thrilled with it as I am?

My Slabside prefers them to anything else I'v tried in it. 5-6 way dead crows and a big pile of squirrels really hated em.

I have noticed it seems to hit big jackrabbits harder than the bulk stuff, but not as hard as say Velocitors or the old quick shocks. However it is all I will use in my kimber. When I tested a quite a few brands and types it was the clear winner with the first four four shot groups(four round clip) all under 3/8" at 80 yards. It also does well in my other ones but I don't shoot them as much.

One of the best I've used in .22 LR. The PP does a great job on gray squirrels out to 65 yards. Crows fold up easily with good hits. My longest kill with a .22 LR was a g'hog at 85 (headshot) yards with the PP.

I don't think I would compare the PP to a .22 Magnum. Big difference between a 40 grain @ 1280 fps and a 40 grain @ 1950 fps, IMO.

JB,
It aint no 22 magnum, but seems to have distructive power way over most 22 LR hollow points. When hunting with my grandson last week, he hit a sage rat and flipped it 2' in the air with PowerPoints. When it landed, I hit it again with the 17 HUMMER and sent rat pieces everywhere. I was very impressed with the shock power of PowerPoints.

That is all I use in my 10/22. Their terminal perfoermance is great and they shoot better than all of the others (9) I have tried in my rifle........surprised me.

Virgil,

Agreed, it's a fine round. I prefer it to any other .22 LR HV HP, and it's an inexpensive round. Those guys in Oz always seem to come up with some neat stuff.

Virgil,

Powerpoints are the most accurate AND the most destructive ammo in most of my .22's, but especially my favorite sage rat killer, my Win. 52B. I've seen parts and chunks fly off sage rats hit properly with the Power points when nothing else I've tried would even come close. If you watch the gunshows, you can pick up bricks fairly reasonably sometimes ($12.50-$14 a brick) and in quantities, but I have a heck of time finding them at gunshops anymore. I wonder if the new Sportsman's Warehouse carries them? HMMMMM...
BTW, are the sage rats still up this late? I thought sure they would be down by now?- Bob

Bob,

The grandson and I just got into some sage rats 2 weeks ago in the high praries up in the hills above Paisley Or. We never saw many and the ones we got were very spookey, must have been shot at befor. We sure had lots of fun with the few that we did get!

Forgot to add, 2 local gun shops (Eugene Or.) carry PowerPoint ammo. $22 and $24 a brick! I'll start watching the gunshows...

Virgil,

Bass Pro Shops in my area usually have the PP for the same price as Super-X HV HP: $12.90/brick.

Olies beats the heck out of S&M ($22) and Mazama ($24) in Eugene.

I love them PP's!

Got two bricks for about $15 each. Well worth it.

Shot a squirrel with it once and swore that it took a pint of blood out of him when it hit him. It was like shooting a water balloon! It was oddly gross but impressive.

I also have really good luck with Rem golden bullets, 36 gr HP.

I also saw at a show that another 36 gr pure lead bullet was put on the market by PMC. Have to give it a try...

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

Virgil,

There can't be anything more fun or rewarding than taking a grandchild hunting!!! My early hunting days with my .22 and old bolt action 20 guage are still some of my best memories.

Good Hunting,

Bob

Yep,
I got me a new shootin pard. My grandson seems to have took the "bait" hook, line, and sinker!
I'm sure we have created memories that he will carry with him the rest of his days.
Now, gramps has someone to take him hunting when he gets to old to take himself!
