1 Corinthians is a letter written to believers in Corinth. The believers in Corinth were floundering in sin, permitting all types of immorality …. Paul comments that there were “acting like mere men.” A sad bunch.

The letter is instructional in terms of doctrine, but it is also one of those biblical examples of a good old fashioned ass chewing.

So, for whatever benefit you may find……

1 Corinthians 6:9-11………picking up the scolding mid-stream…..

”Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolators nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

(Ok, so far so good, but please pay close attention to what Paul says next)

“And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

See? Paul is writing to those who WERE immoral, idolators, adulterers, men who were having sex with men, thieves…. And so on.

But these immoral evil people… some of them, “saw the light” and became both forgiven and given new hearts.

Sin…. Bad sin…. Can be forgiven and a new life can start.

While the Constitution protects the rights of all within our borders it has, in its amendments, acts and supreme court rulings, consistently limited the authority to elect representatives to citizens of the Republic.

Until such time those limits are completely eroded, I and others will continue to refer to it as a representative republic. We can politely disagree on this.

What we cannot disagree on is the need to save our republic from becoming the banana variant.

Your ignorance is appalling. The ethic that condemns homosexuality ("the laws of nature" [unassisted human reason]) also condemns Sharia Law. It wouldn't matter if every religion in the world approved of homosexuality, it would still be wrong because it's against nature.

That's pretty much how I have always been taught in the fire & brimstone preaching Southern Baptist Churches and the pentecostal Church of God.
In other to be forgiven your sin you much repent and work towards not ever commiting that same sin.

Not, this new aged thinking where I have heard a church goer state (when they were about to get wasted or whatnot) I've heard, it ok I will just ask for forgiveness in the morning!
The way I was raised is if you know it a sin before you commit it and fully intend to commit it anyway, on the pretext of knowing you will be forgiven so why not have fun; then those types of sun are not automatically forgiven.
And the more you commit those same sins, the more penance you must do to be forgiven BUT you cannot go back to doing it everytime you want!
That's why they call it being a devout Christian!
Ok. Let's not look at homosexuality from the religious point of view but instead from the Nature side of the argument:
There is a reason that there are 2 sexes. Care to take a guess? Bingo, to go forth and populate the species. BOTTOM LINE! If you are engaging in any unnatural act then you are against the natural order of the universe and there by nature is against you. A male and female was made to mate and have offspring to further the chance of survival of their species! If you are not a productive member of your specie's existence YOU ARE PERVERED, SICK. DISTORTED, UNNATURAL!

All types of people are needlessly murdered by all sorts of humans under all sorts of circumstances. There is nothng particularly special about this event except that some attempt to use the event, in and of itself, to conjure some sort of social, or religious or pesonal example and extend it to the larger human scene. Such acts have taken place throughout recorded history (as well as in unrecorded and fictional history).

Those who attempt to apply a terrible event such as this to the conditions/behaviors/views of specific humans/groups/laws/scriptures, etc. usually are attemting a long/thin stretch. No matter the motivation for such an attempt, it shows itself as weak.

Indeed, there do seem to exist some "natural" human conditions and laws worth reflection in such seemingly unnatural cases.

With regard to those who try to apply certain "religous", or "scriptual" or general denomination doctrines to such an horrible event and extrapolate a conclusive view from there, the quest often resembles rather gross gamesmanship.

In contrast to all of the wading through and slicing/dicing the many "laws and rules", with regard to Christanity it might be good to reflect on the fundament that the relationship between the person and God - and the concomitant expectations - is a very singlar and personal relationship.

There was a recent thread on this board about the decline of Christianity in America. The majority of churches in this country are plateaued or dying, while the numbers of un-churched and de-churched people are growing by leaps and bounds.

Do those who comprise the body of Christian believers (the Church)…individually and collectively…bear any responsibility for this…?

Or is it all the fault of un-churched and de-churched people themselves, and our culture…?
