I think the good ones with the steering wheel on the left side were hand made in Pakistan.

It’s gotta be China.

Sure, most of their stuff is low end. But clearly they make a few products with higher end glass.

Probably not the highest end. It’s not specified, so likely FPL-51 or equivalent. Listed as ED triplet apochromatic.

I got a deal on this used Barska 80 f7 ED triplet. No way I would have paid full price.
I believe it was made by Kunming United Optics or by some other major manufacturer.
It’s not terrible.

Do yourself a favor, and move up to a Tasco.

If you are going on your one lifetime hunt to AK or Africa, make sure you scope your NULA rifle with a Barska, Simmons or Trashco scope. Just be sure you have a spare scope in your baggage.

Broad brush strokes, folks. Sometimes even lower cost stuff works just fine, especially if you are not Big Stick, with seemingly unlimited cash and time, and an itch he just quite can't get scratched. Not that I haven't learned a thing or two from his posts helpful to my low-end, unsophisticated dumphuk hunting. HINT smile. I've found I can kill chit just fine with a +/-$500 outfit. I really don't need a $2500 scope on a $1500- 3,000 rifle for my hunting/shooting purposes. Much less up to dozens of them. YMMV.

Not that I wouldn't.... Still, back to the OP- Nothing I've seen would induce me to buy a Barska, or use one.

This here is a Walmart $400 Remington 770 special I felt obligated to acquire- I would not have purchased the pkg deal otherwise. I did take the pkg no-name scope (whatever the hell it is- probably a Barska?) off and replace it with a 6X40 Tasco, which I've been using for over 30 years with no problem. I would like to find another, or a Leupold (M-8?) 6X 42? fixedand probably will this winter. I like that 6X fixed scope.! So does my son, who used the outfit to take his caribou 2 days later, at close to 300 yards, on the ridge-top 100 yards or so above my stand site as were headed back to the truck that evening from farther up the ridge.

The rifle is MOA (still a POS, IMO, but hey - it shoots!) , unmodified, with 150 grain factory (gasp) Corelokts. Or 180's. The caribou was taken in 2021 at about 360 yards. I cheated and used a (pun intended) rock solid rest. I'm sure that Garandi'mgreat will be appalled at that also, me not being a true no-rest marksman and all. smile

I also have a 3.5-10 World Class+ Tasco, and a Leupod VXIII that have worked fine for several devades with no problems. I'll stick with those two brands at least until until I get a failure.... only models mid- upper end.

The only true cost of having a dog is its death.
