I'd suggest taking a look at the Meopta Optika5 3-15X44. A 1-inch tube SFP scope that will serve your needs just fine. Set it and forget it. You are right that this Optica5 is probably better suited to my needs. I really like the Z-Plex reticle that I have in my 3-9 Zeiss Conquest. I currently don’t own a scope with an objective larger than 40mm so a slight increase to the 44mm would be easier to accommodate without having to switch to high rings. Simpler is better. I truly appreciate the helpful responses from most of you. That is why I threw this open ended request out here. My hope was to gain some insight on my next purchase and not to feed a troll.

Hey little buddy. I hope you are well. Your beside manner still needs a little work.
To the Big Stick sycophants who are going to come and tell us all that my little buddy doesn't suffer fools lightly or some such other crap, etc., I apologize. In re-reading this thread I can see that everybody else who expressed a different opinion for legitimate reasons are clearly fools and deserved to be treated like crap. Oh well, at least you can ensure that the homunculus from Alaska won't use bad words toward you or eviscerate you with his rapier wit. I, like you aforementioned sycophants and hangers on, agree with his "opinion" in this thread, just not his delivery. Yes, yes, I know little buddy, "I'm sucking the wrong ass".

If 200 yards is like your maximum range for hunting, a typical tweener scope would work. Something topping out at 6, 7 or 8x. Generally, those scopes will save you some weight as well.

When considering the main use of the scope, ” Most of my shooting is punching paper at 100 yards.”, it seems that the option of higher magnification would be desirable.

I am a short range hunter unlikely to shoot over 200 yards. Most of my shooting is punching paper at 100 yards. My plan is to upgrade the optics on an incredibly accurate Tikka CTR in 260. Not because I need to, but because I can. The plan is to try a 30mm tube since weight doesn't matter since this rifle won't get carried far. I want as good of low light capability as I can get in my price range.
Now for my options
Zeiss V4 3-12x44
or
Meopta Optika6 2.5-15x44
I'm really only interested in the standard Z-Plex reticle and capped turrets. For my uses the parallax adjustable Meopta isn't necessary but I like the idea of 15x. Is there anything else that I should look at? So you Have no idea of what scope is best. No idea of how scopes work. No idea of precision shooting. Decide for yourself which two scopes YOU want. Ask for advice. Then get pissed when your stupidity is immediately called out. And patted on the back by those who know as much as you do which who also give advice. Yea, that’s the right way to stay stupid the rest of your days And BTW is VERY entertaining to watch !.............just a fyi

What makes this 2.5-10x42 scope any more desirable than the Meopta Optika5 2-10x42?
