Trying to get info about the best all around big game cartridge is far to complicated so I have opted to reduce the available argument down to the best all around caliber!

I pick up a 7mm something most of the time. Maybe it’s because I like those rifles the best in my safe. I mainly shoot whitetails as far as big game. So my opinion is limited

In my opinion when talking about the “best” Big Game caliber it starts with a .30. There’s nothing wrong with sub .30 calibers but when all big game is considered I believe the entrance should be at least .30 cal.

35 Whelen. The buck I got this year was found 10 feet from where it stood when I pulled the trigger. Very easy to find in taller grass. Legal in states with 35 cal and up restrictions. It's wonderfully powerful, shoots plenty flat to 300 yds, and recoil isn't objectionable on the bench.
