Ran across a rifle with leupold scope in 308. Gun looks to be in excellent condition. Seller wants 825 for it. I have never seen one or handled one. I see them priced all over the board. Anyone have input on the price, accuracy or other thoughts would be appreciated.

Double or single trigger? Magnum or standard frame. What scope? Seems like a decent price, esp if a magnum frame.

Love y 308, at the range today with a new Meopta R 1 scope, shoots nice.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with the safety before you buy. Some don't mind them, others hate it.

It’s a single trigger, probably not a magnum action and the scope is a leupold 3-9x40 with adj objective from the same timeframe ad the rifle.
Thanks

Magnum frames are marked "Magnum" on the underside of the action just behind the hinge pin. Sounds like a good deal. W/o any scope that is the ballpark price on GB these days.

Single trigger is the 83, the Hunter model. Check the forearm to see if you need a screw driver to remove it or if it has a lift mechanism.

Standard barrels are interchangeable between the 83 & 87. Can't recall which model came first but they both shoot well and are very nicely balanced.

1983 & 1987 was always my understanding/assumption. Too long ago to remember for sure.

That would make sense.

the safety bothers some, I don't see the problem, in this hi tech world, seems pretty simple.

Sounds like a bargain to me. Better snatch it up. Even if you dont like it, you could likely get rid of it easily.

Looks like the TCR was successful in taking some Kansas Whitetails.

did you buy the gun? $825 sounds like a decent deal. And a quality scope.

I’d probably buy that, and I don’t even like them that much.

Did the same one week ago. This dealer had 3 aristocrats in stock and 2 barrels at 250 a piece. ( he does not ship and please do not PM me of their whereabouts)

Not gonna PM you... smile

But if the dealer is in TX, LA or MS I am more than happy to drive. I do not need more frames but barrels are always useful. Looking for a 6.5x55 or some fun caliber like 7x30 Waters.

I saw an 83 Aristocrat this past week at a local shop - but the stock and forearm were a polished (glossy) versus a satin type finish. Anyone know if they came with polished finish or likely someone did this on their own?

Can’t say that a glossy factory finish is not possible, but it’s most unlikely. I’ve looked at quite a number of TCR83 Aristocrats over the years, and the very few I’ve seen with high gloss stock finish showed obvious signs of aftermarket meddling.

Factory stock finish should look much like what’s on these guys:
