Did you ever slug your barrel to see what the diameter actually is?

It's really dirt simple to do. Clean the barrel and oil it a bit more than you would for general storage, get a slightly oversize, roundish piece of lead - sinker or muzzle loader ball - and wham it into the muzzle, then push it through with a cleaning rod. A micrometer is nice if you want that last ten thousandth measurement but a set of calipers is accurate enough for the purpose.
