Is TSS a "must have" for using 20's on turkey, let's inside 40 yds.?
I can't bring myself to pay $10-$15 every time I pull the trigger. But do enjoy carrying a 6lb 20 gauge.
I found this to pattern just fine out to at least 35 yards. That's as far as I tested it. They make a version @ 1200 fps that didn't pattern well enough for me to use it. But this version @ 1000 fps is what I found to work.

Yeah. I'm a tightwad too! LOL!
Long story. Short ending.
I got a .410 ti turkey hunt with.
Two 5 packs of Federal, 3" TSS #9's cost me $60! 🤯.
I shot 2 of them just to get an idea of pattern....tears running down my cheeks. 😖
I got started turkey hunting late in life....2002!
I've killed most of my birds with plain Jane old #8's.
Last bird I killed was with #7.5's.
In 1988, I started a new job.
Foreman was a garage sale geek. Talking ammo one day, he told me he had a buttload of 16 gauge ammo he didn't want.
Next day, he brings me a small bathroom garbage can with about 4 boxes of #8's and #7.5's. I'm a pushover for free ammo. Besides, the stuff had to be ten years old.
The turkey I killed with #7.5's was one of those 16 gauge rounds out of the garbage can! That was in 2018!
I'm still hunting with 30 (40?) year old ammo I dug out of the garbage! LOL!
Paying ten bucks a round really torques me!
