One thing about it John with it that tight you have the ability to open as needed because of the rework of the muzzle you've done. I rather enjoy a outing or several with old guns my 97, m 12, A-5's, Steven's 621, lc Smith and Ithaca dbl guns. It's a form of traveling back in time..mb

I hadn't considered that point, but you are correct. If it's too tight and mangling meat, I could open it up a little more.

I too enjoy my guns. Whether old or brand new. They each have their own "personalities". Sounds like you and I would get along really well if we were neighbors.

Like this gun if needing an example. It's older than I am. But, that's OK. I'm not afraid to stomp and stumble through the woods with it.

Yeah I have a lot of guns way older than me. My 97 was built in 1903 for example. Mb

Thank you gaswamp. This was one of those long projects that looking back on, wish that I had done years ago when I had first bought it.

squirrel season will be opening up in a few weeks. I have every plan to take this gun a couple of times to see how it does. Which is something I've never been comfortable doing with it before because it didn't pattern well enough beyond 20 yards that I felt confident enough to use it.

I don't think it'll have any problems now though.

I know it's a bit late to be posting about squirrels with deer season being in full swing, but I've been so busy that I haven't had time to post about it before now.

The shotgun has taken several squirrels this fall. Not sure why but the oak trees haven't been producing much at all in my area. We've seen as many on the ground as there were traveling as we have in the trees this year.

Here's a large grey squirrel that my youngest son took the last time we went (the only time I thought to take a picture to update the thread). That was the shortest evening that we hunted.

The choke I made is working well. The weld has held up perfectly. The steel hasn't expanded out with use. It's getting the job done at least.
