Anybody here shoot this one? A buddy picked up a #1 Rolling Block chambered for it and he came to me for advise, of which I had none to give him.

3031 keeps popping up in the scant data out there, which leads me to suspect that 4198 on the faster side, and 4895/4064/Varget on the slower side should work too.

I just got off the phone with a friend. He is using a 265 gas check, 25gr of 4198 and getting about 1580 fps out of his Win 1886. He claims it is a published load from Cartridges of the World. He says he could go up to 1800fps with 3031, but accuracy deteriorates and it doesn't regulate to the original sights.


Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
