I am new to muzzleloaders and wonder if anyone else has noticed anything similar. My Optima V2 shoots Hornady 300 Grain SSTs, Hornady XTP and 250 grain powerbelts roughly to same point of aim with either 777 Pellets or White Hot pellets. I was doing a quick clean of the barrel after every shot. Today I tried Hornady 290 grain Bore Drivers with White Hots and my first 2 shots were almost touching and the 3rd an inch away. I was impressed. For the fun of it I cleaned the barrel and fired the same Bore Driver bullet with 777 pellets to see if I could use either powder and I did not even hit the 2' x 3' target! Tried it again. Same result. Called my friend over to watch took another shot. He said I was way low. The 777 was shooting about 2' below the White hots. Anybody else seen this sort of thing? Obviously my rifle is very particular to the two different pellets when using the Bore Drivers.

Sounds like your 777 pellets drew moisture some where, and the pellet burn rate is retarded.
I’ve shot piles of 777 pellets with out an issue- until this year. I was given a couple estate find boxes - that while still sealed - were difficult to light, and they were a visible lower velocity than my “fresh” pellets. Couple pellets left the barrel and smoldered on the ground in front of the bench- it was that slow.
I’d try a shot with a load you know works with your 777 pellets - like the 300 SST you listed.

Hodgdon rep said 777 is 10 times more likely to draw moisture than pyrodex. I havent used it sense.
