.....is changing to 1 in 8".

I actually gave a couple guys on here some bad information recently. James Jr contacted me about the 8" twist. Then Lefthunter contacted me with the same question. I emailed my rep and was told the price lists and the web site (Finland site) had the 8" twist listed incorrectly. I was told all 243's were still 1 in 10". Then things started popping up on other forums and was contacted again. I called my rep and he said nothing was announced at SHOT, so he assumed the information he was given was still correct.

A couple days pass and I called him again. I wanted clarity from the rifle design guys with Tikka. He called this morning to verify that Tikka has actually changed the twist rate to 1 in 8".

I'm awaiting a follow up email from him to address a couple of questions. I asked if the 1 in 8" guns would have a barrel stamp indicating the change. I also asked if they could provide a serial number start date to identify the change if the twist rate wasn't stamped on the barrel.

As soon as I have that info, I'll pass it along.

There was a thread over on Rokslide about this same thing, a fellow just bought a Tikka Roughtech Ember that appears to be a 1-8" twist so they must be out there. I also checked the Tikka website and it shows the Superlite now with a 8 twist so maybe there is hope??

They should have just started making 6 Creed instead, hopefully they built new 6 mm mandrels with that in mind

Thanks for the update Darrik. I knew we could depend on you. Hopefully we'll see both the Tikkas and the Model 700's with the 1-8 twist showing up at Whitaker's soon.

.243 1 X 8 with a little free bore will shoot or out shoot almost all 6 mm's with the heavy bullets 103 thru 115 gr if your not trying to run one at 3500 fps with light loads their barrels will last a long time. Rio7

Yep, I checked Whittaker's a couple days ago looking for a 1-8" 700. No luck, but will keep checking. Thanks for the information Deandre!
