Lived in the southeastern corner for a couple years in the mid-1970s. It had some decent hunting and fishing, but at that time you had to apply for a draw to hunt deer, and in that area there was very little public land. Also didn't care much for the climate in that part of the state--hot and humid in the summer, with tornadoes pretty common, and just as cold and snowy in the winter as Montana, where I was born and raised--and returned to ASAP.

I have driven Through a couple fine blizzards there when i was living in Denver, and my wife in MC.. My FIL had a cabin in a canyon there. Spearfish? Been a time, he sold the cabin. In Spearfish one night, doing the jitterbug , I lost a contact. ( I don't dance- but I can fake it) Nothing like 5 friendly cowboys crawling on hands and knees around on the floor with me helping me find it. And some one did. That really tickled my fancy.

Yes, flew down to Omaha and drove over to pick up my cattle dog pup.
Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

Born and raised in Spearfish. I’ve lived in Rapid City since graduating from law school in ‘96. It’s almost two different states: West River and East River. But regardless, the people are great. We may end up spending a lot of time in Arizona but SD will always be home.

I grew up in ND. Never admitted it in SD. They racist.... Hell, even my friend Charlie Yellow Bird (met at Boy's State) from the Standing Rock in ND/ SD border land , didn't much like us northerners.... Imagine that. Indians got fugged! White ain't akways great, but it's better than the alternative, mostly.

Often. I have family in Brandon. I'm in no hurry to go back. That side of the family has shown their true colors these last few years. 'nuff said.

Grand dad on my Mom's side lived in Custer South Dakota.
We went there to see him in 1957, when I was five.
Don't remember much of the trip. Would like to go back some day.

Been there multiple times and almost took a job there once, but thankfully I wised up. Stopped in Mitchell once to see the corn palace. There's 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
