I like Heineken at times. There’s another couple, good friends, we go down to Aruba with every couple of years for a week or two, mostly for sun, good food, get away from everything…it’s become kind of tradition, when the car rental guy picks us up at the airport he has about ten bottles of Heineken on ice in a cardboard box for us to enjoy on the way to the hotel. I tend to like my beer a little maltier and a little more assertively hopped than Heineken, but it’s a good, clean day drinking beer.

Part of the appeal of Heineken, Moosehead and Mickey's is their skunkiness. I think the green bottles allow too much direct light in and starts breaking down the hops.

So, Aussie's don't drink Fosters, the French don't drink Stella, and the Dutch don't drink Heineken.

Personally, I'm fond of several of the German hefeweizens. Paulaner, Tucher, and the one I can't pronounce that has a really long name and starts with a W. I also like Leinenkugel Original, but it is only available in WI or some limited distance from the brewery.

We get leinenkugel in Virginia. Used to be a bar had it on tap for $3 pitcher night many years ago.
