Looks like it is going for quite a premium while his 7x57 Featherweight with nice scope has only 1 bid.

Nice. That's about a $375 scope, so rifle is in the neighborhood of $1,450.00. That's about right for that chambering of a very early XTR FWT. That is a WRA rifle, so keep in mind they bring a little more money. Off the top of my head, that rifle was made in early '81. Nice high condition rifle.

I was too busy typing about the 257 to look at the 7x57 in time. When I opened the link, there was only 1 minute left in the auction. That one looks like an '82, probably transition. Not as nice as the 257. Damage to the checkering on a couple panels. Light freckling of rust on the left hand side of the receiver, stock not as nice, and the recoil pad needs replaced. Not really bueno for a collector.. Appears to have the same model of Leupold. Someone could have got the rifle for $1,000.00. Probably not a bad deal, considering that is a $375 scope. You would be into the rifle at around $625.00.. Not a bad buy. Not as nice as I normally buy, and I don't like the rust starting on the receiver.. YMMV..

Sweet. That is a rare configuration as well. I am down to a 1 XTR FWT, but I really like them. The one I have is a first year SA, chambered in 22-250. It's a sweet shooter, that rarely comes out of the safe. I bought it almost 1 year ago. Paid $700 for it, but later sold the old gloss scope it came with and put something more useable on top. I think I have $450 in the rifle as we speak..

The prices on these XTR's keep going up. I damned near bought a nice FWT last year, but they wanted $1,100.00 for it. The stock was nicer than any XTR stock I've seen. Come to find out, that rifle was a great deal. Then later, I found a beautiful sporter chamberd in 300WBY. No one wanted that dang thing, so it went home with me. They even gave me 2 boxes of ammo for it. You guys don't want to know what that sells for!!!

I've always liked the XTR FWT's better than the sporter models. They are lighter, and the stocks are slimmer and more elegantly designed. The main reason I later fit a Pacific Research to the XTR sporter. Now it is 7 pounds and handles very well. I'm like redneck. I put them in the safe and call them my 401K. When I run across a nice one at a good price, I'll snag it.. That seems to be getting harder and harder to do though.

That is a sweet one too. Cool chambering.

Sweet rifle blairvt. Looks great and set up with a great scope. I have an appreciation for rifles that are well cared for and that one looks to be that way. Thanks for sharing.
