Never thought of Portugal as a tourist destination 'til the wife found a great deal on a week long tour including airfare. I know that the tour will visit Lisbon and Porto. But not don't know much more. What things are standouts? We often will extend, rent a car, and see more than just what's on the tour. Is it worth it to do that in Portugal? What are the highlights to see?

Wind in my hair, Sun on my face, I gazed at the wide open spaces, And I was at home.

IT's a simply BEAUTIFUL place, nice people great food, relatively low cost of living, LOTS of Americans retiring there.

A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

If you've never been to Portugal, why the heck not?
It's not a huge country, explore some! See what you can find.

I'd be more interested in wandering about the countryside, looking into small towns. Much more interesting environments.

Nice place, good food friendly people. One of the cheapest places to vacation in Europe, your dollars will go a long way. No jab required, that stuff is pretty much over in Europe now.
