Posting this up since we've talked about how the general public and most cops suck at shooting. Now we can show everyone how good we are. (I'm sure we'll have just as much participation as we had in the "everybody else sucks" thread.)
I've been shooting this one on and off for a while and it's easily the hardest drill I've ever shot. _______________
1 round in 3 seconds from the ready (5 times) 1 round in 5 seconds from the holster (5 times) 5 rounds--Reload--5 rounds from the holster in 20 seconds 5 rounds--Reload--5 rounds from the holster in 10 seconds ***The reload does not have to be at slide lock***
The target is a USPSA target, but only the top half of the A Zone. (A 6" square is close enough) -300 possible points -Shots in the bottom half of the A are -1 point -Shots in the C are -3 points -Shots in the D are -5 points
Everything is fired from the 25 yard line.
This drill is from Hades Consulting and they've said that "good" shooters will shoot above a 270.
______________
The first 10 shots have a generous time standard and are basically just your warmup. The next 10 shots are a generous time standard but at that point you've had to hit a 6" square at 25 yards with 20 consecutive shots. It can be hard to keep it together for that long. The last 10 shots are really, really fast and you've gotta really develop your visual processing speed to be able to break the shots fast enough while still confirming each hit.

Not to mention, many of us have to do it at -18 degrees.

I know this is going to sound pretty dumb but I’m confused on the scoring. I don’t have any USPSA targets but I’ve seen them. What you say about a 6” square target equivalent, and 22 rounds fired. Do you deduct points for any rounds outside the 6” target and subtract them from the 300 possible point score?

Add up the points for what misses the 6" square and subtract that from 300.

Not to mention, many of us have to do it at -18 degrees. Luckily, if the past b'gillion years of summer-winter cycles are any indication, it won't be -18 for forever.

I will have to see if I can find the target. I was thinking as I read thru it that it would not be too bad, until I say 25 yards!
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

This drill sounds awful.
What does Blue usually shoot for score on it?

The hardest drill I've ever shot 25 yards is nowhere as easy as many think................that's the yardage for outdoor Bullseye matches for timed & rapid fire. If you consistently go 290+ on your course of fire above, with your Staccato, I'd say that's damn good...............a lot better than just average. MM

Some people (not me, of course ) may have trouble making the par time on the last string. So...how do you score shots fired after the par time? Zero for each shot? Fixed penalty per shot? The entire string is a no-go? (Asking for a friend)

The entire string is a no-go? (Asking for a friend) Anything over the park time is a fail for the whole drill. Forces you to go fast at the end. I’ll say this, the first few times it felt completely out of control. I’ve cleaned the last string now a couple of times and the last time I did I called every shot. The biggest benefit this drill has had for me is increasing my visual processing speed. I can see things during recoil and process them much faster than I could a few months ago.

My local range only goes to 50 feet, but I'll practice there for awhile. Once my shooting improves a little, I'll definitely give this a go at 25 yds.

That’s a tough one, but one can benefit from it just starting at 10 yards and working back. I’m gonna work on it.
