Having dozens of rimfires, with lotsa scopes .
The very best I have found is the older Kahles 2X7 ,with 50 YD parallax setting. There are not a lot of these and the parallax is not marked.
I have replaced scopes on good shooting rifles (Anschutz, Steyr Zephyrs, Winchester 52 sporters, etc) with Kahles 2X7 and always shot considerably better.
It is the glass. It is a disappointent to have to switch back to the scopes I took off, which are good scopes , Leupold 2X7 , Leupold 3X9 X33 AO, etc., because
I have a limited number of Kahles. Now, I do not generally need AO as I do not shoot close.
On another note , I have taken a Kahles 3X9 AH and adjusted the parallax from 100 yds down to 50-60.
Jiust my limited experience.

If long-range (200+) shooting at steel or whatever else you might think of is a possibility, then you’re gonna need a lot of clicks on tap, even with an angled rail to avoid holding over. A set of Burris rings with the inserts can help of course, but I’d rather get there with the scope itself. The 40-70 moa the average 1” scope has likely won’t get you there.
I like a light handy rifle too, so I think two rigs, one with a 30mm dialer, is the best course for covering all the bases.
What fresh Hell is this?

Leupold 2-7x28 Rimfire Special: Should ought to give you sufficient resolution for cottontail heads, if this 50 yard target with 5 CCI SGBs is any indication:

Agree with you on the 2-7 Kahles rimfire.
They are hard to find but about as good a rimfire scope as I’ve seen.

I have 3 of the Weaver V16 fine crosshair with dot and 1 with fine duplex on rimfires and they are pretty good scopes . Lately I've been going more with scopes with a Christmas tree reticle like the Athlon 2-12 and the Arken 4-16 and I'm really liking the ability to range and use the reticles for drop on different shots. When sage rat hunting they tend to pop up at ranges from 20 feet to 150 yards at times and it is nice to have the glass and ability to range without taking the time to figure or dial ... I think I only have one rimfire with a Leupold on it now and it is a 2-7 x 28. It's on a rifle I don't shoot often and when I do , I find I am a bit dissatisfied with the glass compared to the others now...
Never underestimate your ability to overestimate your ability.

For Squirrel hunting, my favorite hands down is the old Burris 6X Mini AO scope. For me it is perfect. I've even used it for shooting paper and find it lagging not a bit against a 24X I used for paper once in a while. Burris 6X Mini...... and against a 24x..... My next favorite is the Leupold FXII 6X36 fine duplex with the parallax adjusted to 40yds .....

I have one of those little Burris 6x scopes, purchased here, but put it in my Browning Low Wall .22 Hornet. It’s a nice matchup. I wish it were mounted lower, but Talley couldn’t say for certain if their mount will fit my rifle.

Hope it's the SS 6X in route. Currently using a SS 3x9. Looking forward to having more control over the paralax. Have found that to be a bit of an issue with the 3X9 at the ranges I normally shoot.

I've come to prefer the SWFA 6x to everything else on a rimfire....even on lighter 22's. It's a large scope but I dislike the size less than I dislike the inability to dial, have parallax adjustment, and a measured reticle. The strengths outweigh the size/weight for me...literally.

That is my hope! Not particularly displeased with the SS3X9 on the T1X, but do think the paralax adjustment will be very welcomed.

You shooting squirrels or tiny groups on paper??? Would start on paper, and graduate to head-shooting cottontails. My favorite rifle for this wears an old weaver K2.5. If I were setting it up today it'd likely get a Sig Romeo 5 RDS. Took my Romeo 5 off my new 10-22 TD today and stuck it on my old 10-22 walnut stocked deluxe. Perfect combo for small game hunting.

More life junk going on is an understatement in my world also. The Sako Quad is a great rifle, one of my favorites. I have a synthetic stock version and the one you asked about in that is in walnut. Neither one is all that picky with ammo.
