I have a model seven in 7mm-08 with the factory 18 1/2” barrel that I would like to put in a McMillan. Was wondering if y’all had any pics of similar short barrel model sevens in McMillan stocks? I’m trying to figure out what model stock(s) would look good with the short barrel.

Top one was 22”, bottom was 18.5” I hate long forends on short barreled rifles. I would go KS, FS or wildcat on a 18.5”

The lower picture is a KS, it was offered by brown precision, and later mcmillan - they also came on the custom shop “KS” model 7’s.
The FS was made by brown precision (I think) and came on the model 7FS in what I believe was the late 80’s or early 90’s.
Wildcat is a composite stock maker up here in Canada, his will be the lightest offering, but come as a blank that needs finishing.
I could be wrong, but I believe you can still order the FS and KS from brown precision. I have no idea what mcmillan will or won’t do anymore.

Here is a wildcat m7 stock (700 ti, so the barrel is actually 22” ) And here is another wildcat m7 I put on a 600 with a 20” pipe. [url=https://postimg.cc/1g0s8THR] [/url I’ve finished 15-20 wildcat m7 stocks and finished including paint, bedding, studs and a 0.8” decelerator they finish at 19oz +/- 0.5 oz

Thanks so much for all the information. I had not heard of wildcat stocks before. Good looking and lightweight stocks for sure.

If it helps this is the Brown Precision FS stock offered in the leaf camouflage pattern circa 1989 on the Model Seven ( 18 1/2 barrel )

Here's a Manners EH8 on a Model Seven, from Manners' site. Not sure on the barrel length of that particular rifle, but the forearm length on the EH8 compliments a shorter barrel.

I’ve never asked Paul, I would guess that he would if asked. If you go down that road, be sure to specify where you want the aluminum swivel stud block at the same time. However that mold was made in the early days when all the m7’s were 18.5”, so I don’t think you would need to shorten it for aesthetic reasons.

I don't much like bbls shorter than 20" anyways. Sights on a short bbl rifle help make it look "right" too.

I've got 2 of them on M7s, my .260 and a .350RM. The comb height is about perfect for a scope and the forearm is just the right length for a 20" barrel. .260 .350RM:

Chuck R, what scopes are on your rifles?

91's are beyond Skookum and you "get" to read about it and gawk the Splendid Pixels. I don't own one, nor do I want one just for the sake of posting pics. I just don't need that level of affirmation that comes from bragging about all my stuff as some do.

Fortunately for you and your ilk,Imagination and Pretend are free,so even YOU can "afford" to "contribute",though only with stolen pictures. Hint. Chuck R, what scopes are on your rifles? Both are Leupold 2.5-8x36s. Adequate for the intended use which is stands/blinds with vast majority of shots at under 200yds. Used the .350RM on Friday down in OK:

Last time I checked with wildcat he would not sell to the states. I was looking at his stock for a model seven. Pretty sure that was last year when I contacted them about a stock.

Here's a Manners EH8 on a Model Seven, from Manners' site. Not sure on the barrel length of that particular rifle, but the forearm length on the EH8 compliments a shorter barrel. While not a M7, but a 700 with EH 8 and barrel finished at 21”. Give a good idea of what a 7 would look like in it. https://imgur.com/a/qScUoiW

Thanks for the pic!! That really helps me out with my decision. My model seven has the 18 1/2" barrel, but I think it'll look great in an EH8.
Is there any kind of "grip" molded into the EH8 at the hand grip and forearm?
BTW, great looking rifle!!

Commanders 260 with a McMillan M 7 pattern
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

If you have a good looking walnut stock that you are trying to get rid of, I’m your huckleberry.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Thanks for the offer, but this was my first deer rifle & was given to me by my Mom & Dad. I'll be keeping the walnut stock I think it was about 35 years ago when he & my Mom kept me out of school for a day to go shopping for a new deer rifle for him. I never caught on why he had me handle/try every rifle he looked at until we got to the model 7 and he said "it's for you!".
