Looking for a reflex/deflex longbow in the 45# range. What have you guys seen or shot that you’d recommend? There are a lot of makers, and I’d like to keep a budge of around $700. I’m looking at the used market on some, but there are some makers like Dark Mesa close to me that I’m going to go check out as well.

I don’t have much experience with r/d longbows but have shot a Martin Savannah and loved it. That was maybe 15 years ago. Not sure if they’ve changed or still available.
Great looking and shooting bow.

I'd try to go to a shoot with plenty of vendors and shoot as many as you can and then decide.

Give Robert a call and see if he has something you can go shoot. We own 3 of his bows and they shoot nice, my carbon limb model is very smooth and fast for the poundage. He's in North Texas, Muenster to be exact. http://predatorlongbows.com/wp/

Can’t say enough good things about my Big Jim Thunderchild. You can find them used for 750-1000.

There are a lot of great Customs. On the affordable side I like the Maddog Prairie Predator.

I'd try to go to a shoot with plenty of vendors and shoot as many as you can and then decide. Agreed. IMO it's all about the grip. Find the one that fits you and everything becomes easier.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.
