I have the opportunity to stock up on one or the other at a good price. Which would you choose for deer and hogs?

My brother down in Poplarville has been having success with the 62gr. Fusion on deer. He's had them drop at the shot and had them run up to about 30 yards.

No experience with the Winchester load.

Fusion. It flat out works. It penetrates well and expands violently. Turns vitals to mush. Can handle bone. I have no experience with the 64.

I gave up on the Win. 64 gr. Power Point. Perhaps a good hunting bullet but I never could get better than mediocre accuracy. It did shoot a little better than the Nosler 64 Bonded. I tried both of these in a CZ .223 with a 1 in 9" twist. An excellent bullet that's very accurate and probably good on game is the Sierra 65 GK.

Winchester centerfire rifle ammunition lags far behind anything from federal.

Whichever shot best in my rifle.

165 grain Win. power points and 150 grain Fusions proved most accurate of several factory loads from Remington, Hornady and Federal in my .30-06. Both loads capable of MOA accuracy in my rifle.

My vote is for the 62 grain Fusion.

Are the Fusion and Gold Dot the same bullet?

Are you looking at using the MSR loading of the Fusion?

Please post the results with the ammo you use. I’m having hog issues here in Wayne county and plan to use a suppressed AR15.

The Fusion will chew through antelope bone out to about 200 yards or so. Will struggle to exit on anything other than a broad side lung shot on a whitetail buck.

Can’t say about the PP. Haven’t tried it.

Good price? Then buy both. All of them. You’ll later be glad you did.

Fusion if you only buy 1. Good advice from WMR. Buy buy both if you can afford it.

I've had good results on deer, bobcats, coyotes, fox, coons, armadillos, and paper with the 62 gr Fusions from Federal in multiple rifles. If I'm using factory .223 ammo for anything besides paper there are 2 that have worked really well for me, Fiocchi 50 gr Vmax for lighter/predator stuff and the 62 Fusions for anything...not just anything else, anything.

Best is to shoot both, as others have said, but fusions tend to be very accurate bullets and also they hang together pretty well, though they tend to loo ugly when you recover them.

As TX35W said, Shoot both. It's The only way you will know what groups best in your gun. The Win PP 64gr groups a little better in my gun than the Fed Fusion 62gr does on paper, but not by much. I would have no problem using either one hunting. I have not shot a deer with my 223. But they both work just fine on pigs. Put it in the right spot and they will drop in there tracks.

Used to be able to buy the 64 gr pp as a component bullet. I worked up a load with them at 3400 fps in my boat paddle 77 ruger 22-250. Shot 2 does and a buck antelope 2nd day of the season back.in 09. 1 st doe at 225 broadside broke 1 rib in and 1 going out made 10 yds and dropped. 2 nd doe at 175 bullseyed the ball at the left shoulder blade, cored like a drill bit smashed thru the rib behind it with massive internal organ damage and exited behind the right shoulder. Didn't run far. 3 rd goat was a 14" buck at 3oo yds spined in frt of shoulders dropped on the shot. Yeah I'm a 64 gr pp fan. Don't know about fusions...mb
