Lot of fun and shoot better than they should. Mine has a Sig Romeo 5 red dot. Pretty reliable if they're cleaned every 1k rounds or so. Breaks down for cleaning like a regular AR

Thanks! Last time I fiddled with anything of that style was in the early ‘70s and haven’t paid close attention to them since. Might be I will inherent one in a day or two.

I can’t say enough good things about the 15-22. I have been using one for five years, have around 40,000 rounds through it. Tuned the ejector and put in a Volquartsen extractor and it has been utterly reliable with HV or SV ammo. They will break a firing pin about every 15,000 rounds but Smith will send you a new one if you do. I had an H&K 416 previously but like the 15-22 much better. The big advantage of the 15-22 over the 416 are similarities to the full size AR. All the controls are the same and most aftermarket stuff fits, especially triggers. With a 3.5# CMC drop in trigger, it is a pleasure to shoot.

It has arrived. Shot very little, if any at all. Tight as a drum. We will see what we see. Needs a sight I reckon.

Laffin' here....perusing the world of sights/scope bases and rings etc....prices are nutz. Right off the chart. Never imagined I'd see scope bases priced in the 300/400 dollar range. Some of the dot sights were equally absurd. A longer barrel????? Almost cheaper to buy a new gun and be done. Laffin' here boss....

Motion activated, don't have to worry about leaving it on. Dot goes small enough to make 100 yard steel targets easy . A little over $100 and they go on sale frequently

Does it mount on the rail found on the 15-22? Yes it does. I also added Magpul MBUS which aren't really needed but I use them on my centerfire ARs as well Sig Sauer SOR52001 Romeo5 1x20mm Compact 2 Moa Red Dot Sight, Black https://a.co/d/fYNQQ3A

I can’t say enough good things about the 15-22. … All the controls are the same and most aftermarket stuff fits, especially triggers. Three and a half pound TriggerTech in this guy: … along with a MagPul stock (from a Ruger MPR), Hogue pistol grip, and even an Ultradyne Athena linear compensator (left over from another project) to direct noise forward. It came with a factory installed S&W M&P-100 red dot sight. But, I find the VX 1-4x20 scope most useful. My only beef is with the integral “buffer” tube, which limits choice of stocks. Would like to be able to install a more stable A1 stock without a lot of alteration.

I have gotten 1”/30mm scope mounts off of eBay for less than $30.00. No use spending big dollars for name brand mounts on a 22. I am using a Bushnell 1-4x AR 223 scope on my 15-22.

I have a couple of them.
My second one has a better extractor. Works great.
Clean it occasionally or you will get misfires from light firing pin strikes.

changed out a few things on mine... What brand buttstock is that, sir? Looks to be more stable than any collapsible. Any permanent modifications to the rifle required? Answered my first question with a bit of research: It’s a MagPul MOE Fixed Carbine Stock. Mil-Spec or Commercial?

changed out a few things on mine... Any permanent modifications to the rifle required? Just took delivery of a MagPul MOE Fixed Carbine Stock from Brownells and installed it: It’s rock solid. I saw where you trimmed back the End Cap to eliminate the unsightly gap behind the receiver. However, in order to avoid shortening the length of pull any further, I chose not to do that and just live with the gap. It was also necessary to cut a notch in the bottom of the extension tube under-lug for the stock’s cross bolt to clear it (easily accomplished). Now, it’s good to go.

My boys loved learning on mine and it was a lot of fun to shoot.
It is not enough to fight for natural land and the west; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it's still there. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends...

mine has been great. i swapped the factory quad rail for a factory mlok rail i found second hand. its set up very similarly to my 5.56 rifle.
pistol braces rules aside, i been wondering if i could get a pistol version, thread on a 22 suppressor, and put a full length factory mlok handguard and have a tucked suppressor build.

Set up this way, my S&W M&P15-22 didn’t perform half bad at 50 yards, except for that one flyer: So, out of curiosity this morning, I attached my old Weaver T-6 scope, zeroed it at 25 yards, adjusted elevation up the calculated 24 MOA, and tried for my 6” steel disk, set at 200 yards from my back deck: I hit that steel three times out of the first five shots, with those two missed shots striking a tree branch more than a foot above my line of sight, the earlier shot wiggling the branch some, while the later shot severed the branch cleanly: That would have been a great shot, if I had meant to do it.

I have an older Tactical Solutions Upper on a regular AR15 Lower. Pre M&P 15. Mine runs as well as could be expected with Black Dog Steel Lip Magazines, and Ammunition that it likes, M22 comes to mind. I just rebuilt it. Off came the M4 Handguards and Military Style Front Sight. Replaced the handguard with a Midwest Industries 15" M-Loc Handguard. I also replaced the Adjustable Butt Stock with a MagPull MOE Rifle Stock, same as on all of my other AR15's. I kept the Carbine Buffer and Spring in the Rifle Extension Tube using a plastic filler spacer. To the Handguard a Added a short section of 1913 rail for a weapon light for Night Shoots. I also added a M-Loc Bipod Stud for a bipod. I also added a Leupold MK AR Cantilever Scope Base, to which I added an Ultra Dot 6 Red Dot Carbine Sight using scope rings providing a proper 2.6" scope height. Great set up. I put more ammunition through it than all of my other AR15's combined. I can shoot it till I have a blister on my trigger finger for under $30 ( Old Ammunition Prices ). Never have had a blister, but the point is, it is cheap to shoot a lot. My brother got on the boat later on, and has an M&P15 that he likes a lot. Bob R

The 15-22s are great. I don't really care about ultimate accuracy from mine. They are for quick acquisition target shooting, not bench shooting. With a suppressor they run everything except Remington ammo.
