They dropped the 550 and 527, right about the time that folks were willing to spend $1000 for a USED Rem 700 BDL.
When folks are dropping $700-$900 on USED Marlin 336’s, and $1200-$1500 on USED 1895’s.
The talk about there being no demand for blued/walnut guns sounds like the theory of some idiot middle manager, who thinks dropping MILLIONS on R&D and tooling for a clunker like the 600, makes more sense than building quality 550’s.
CZ has done alright making “retro” CZ75’s, “retro” Python’s and Anaconda’s, “retro” Dan Wesson 1911’s, and “retro” 550’s/527’s and rimfires.
Why they felt the need to schidt-can the 550 and 527, is beyond me. They could have added the 600 to the lineup, for the folks who find that interesting (I realize they’re a Euro company, but honestly, how “big” is the Euro long rifle market???), and maintained the 550 and 527. Based on what I read here, most people don’t want to pay what quality costs anymore. When Ruger revived the Marlin .45/70, most of the comments were complaints about the price. Same goes for nice walnut and steel bolt actions from just about everybody. Everybody wants the old nice guns at the old prices. Ain’t happening. Just like with fixed-power scopes, there’s a demand, but not a sustainable market.
What fresh Hell is this?

BEEN COUNTERS DO NOT MAKE MANAGEMENT DECISIONS WITH RESPECT TO PRODUCT LINES ETC. THEY PROVIDE MANAGEMENT WITH DATA FOR WHICH THEY CAN MAKE DECISIONS. And the CEO at my previous place of employment was a be an counter. He turned a profitable and fun to work at company into a place that was drudgery. Then all of us that were worth a damn left. The loads remain and their mediocrity has apparently made it into a real schitt show now and they can’t admit what a dumb ass the CEO truly is. They certainly managed to sink Remington with their accounting tricks.

Bean counters and trying to get in on the synthetic train. Agree with others on they should have just added the 600 and keep the. 527, 550. I asked if they will have stainless flutted option like tikka. They said no, So they don’t want a winning formula after all

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

The 452 to 455 to 457 was the canary in the coal mine it seems. How is that?I have two 457 Varmints in 22LR and 22 mag that shoot sub inch 5 shot groups at 100.At 50 they go into about a .25 hole.My 452 American can`t do that. I suppose you are the exception to all the hundreds of others that I've heard from.... Congrats.
