Maybe not the BPS...

The BPS is Invector Plus, too.

I ordered a Patternmaster Code Black .665 for my Browning A5 which takes Invector DS chokes. I have a Carlsons Extended Turkey Tube .665 in it now. But I think the Code Black in my BPS is throwing a denser pattern than the Carlsons in my A5.

BPS is far too new to be anything but Inv +

I wouldn't rely on just one shot for the data. I have seen guns throw a wicked good pattern and then the next two shots be just so-so, or, vis-a-versa. Dirty bores and chokes vs. clean also can make a difference. Shotguns can be some finicky sumbucks at times.

I still have some 2 3/4” Active nickel-plated 5s. Some years back I had some 3” ones but no 3” gun, so advertised them locally. Phone about rang off the hook!

I also have some old Active 4s. The plant is just a few miles from here, now owned by Kent.

All those patterns are good enough for Turkey hunting where I hunt. I have yet to get a shot farther than 30 yards and presently use 71/2 shot out of a Primos Turkey tube choked Mossberg 500. Just about any 12 gauge or even a 20 throwing 1 1/8 oz of 71/2's would work just fine if it patterned reasonably well. I have an old Mossberg 20 gauge marked modified that really makes tight patterns with the right shells. I use 4 shot for rabbits with it to avoid putting too much shot in them. I have done a considerable amount of hunting with IC and cylinder bored barrels and taken a lot of birds and small game. But then where I live shot distances are usually short.

That BPS will definitely massage a Tom’s head and neck quite nicely. I’d stock up on those #5’s.
Congrats!

I picked up a Patternmaster Code Black for my A5, which uses the Invector DS chokes. It's .665. I have a Carlson's Extended Turkey Choke in .665, and a Kicks Gobblin Thunder in .680. I want to try and get it out this weekend sometime and see how they all compare, along with the stock full choke, using some 3 1/2" Longbeard XR #5.

Most of the counties I deer hunt in are shotgun only, and a lot of the time I use 00 buckshot. Pattermaster has a Big Game choke and I'm going to compare that to my Carlson's Buckshot amd Kicks Buck Kicker chokes, along with the stock full and modified chokes.

If I can get out Saturday (it is supposed to rain, though), Sunday is going to be a miserable, sore-shoulder day.

Kind of why I gave my 10 gauge to my best friends boy.

I can get all my killing done with a 3" 12 and am leaning towards my 16 this year. 1 1/8 oz of 7 1/2s will work fine at the under 25sh yards in my patch of brush.

I'll probably use 3" #5 this season for turkeys. I've accumulated a good amount. But for a buckshot load, Winchesters Double XX 3 1/2" 00 buck with 15 pellets at 1,450 fps is a ridiculously good buckshot round. But it's a sledgehammer in the recoil department.
