Co-worker wants to sell this and I offered to post it here. 700BDL he bought new in 1983. Gloss blue/wood. Approximately 200 rounds thru it (he doesn't hunt). Has Tasco 3-9 and Leupold Rings. Original box and paperwork. $600+shipping.

I do not want to start a flame war here but just make a casual comment. It appears that this seller might want to lower his price some. He may get some interested parties then. Just a suggestion. Do what you want. No insult intended, just trying to help you sell the gun.

I have already said to him that there has been lots of lookers but no offers. Make a reasonable offer and I'll pass it on. Worst case, he doesn't take it.

I once voiced my opinion about the price of a guys gun on here and the rats came out of the woodwork with their teeth showing. If It Flies It Dies, SAID DFC:
"IMO you made an etiquette error by publicly questioning the pricing of someone else's goods in their thread. Why don't you just admit it, apologize if you care to, and move on. Unless you are making a counteroffer, which would best be done in private communications, what someone asks for his sale items is really not your business. At this point, you have gotten your ego involved when nothing is at stake and the only thing being tarnished is your reputation. Just my opinion and not meant in any way to be a personal attack, just a friendly observation." Big Sky SAID "Bobcat you and I are on the same page, but I can't for the life of me figure out DFC's train of thought. Why in the world would I want to sell rifle's I paid retail for (like most folks do) and turn around and sell them for considerably less than wholesale? Hey DFC if you have any rifles, Toyota 4x4 trucks, Video Camera's, Leupold or Nightforce NXS scopes you'd like to sell for less than wholesale I'm interested...oh and I'll expect free shipping please."

DFC. You're probably right. I do remember the flaming you got when you made your mentioned comment. Note how carefully I worded my suggestion. I was trying to be smooth and subtle at the same time.
I really am not interested in the gun at any price, as I have more than my share now, although a Dakota sharps miniture would be nice.
Anyway, I was just trying to offer a helpful suggestion and in no way want to interfere with free enterprise. I just stuck my nose into somebody elses business, again, and I probably shouldn't have.

Dan,
I have nothing against you personally, but from what I remember, your questioning of the guy's price and subsequent resposnes to those who opposed you were nothing like what Rolly has posted here.

Blaine, I have nothing against you either, as a matter of fact, I never hold a grudge, I find it childish. You might want to refresh your memory on the subject, I did, that's where the quotes came from. It was more like a local wolf pack attacking an outsider passing thru their territory, than anything I said.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the rifle is still for sale. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

And here I was going to tactfully agree with Rolly that the price was a tad too high and he might want to reconsider posting a lower price. Guess that would have been a big mistake, huh? Sure glad I reconsidered- <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />- Sheister
