Bought a Ruger 77/22 Hornet as a placeholder until I can locate a CZ 527 in 22 Hornet or 223.

This 527 .221FB would be one of the last guns I'd ever consider parting with.

That one’s a beauty.

I never bitched about the safety or magazine, but I did whine a little about needing to load from the magazine, until I bought a Bob’s Sled.

Those .221s are like gold now. .222s probably too.

I have a 557 with the Manners carbon fiber stock. Guess those aren’t real popular either?

I saw a .221 on GB with a nice limited run maple stock listed at just under 2k a few days ago and looks to have sold within a couple of days.

Looks like I'd better keep my 22 Hornet, even though I haven't fired it in years. It's probably my most accurate rifle, usually putting 3, 40 grain V-Maxes into ⅜" or less at 100 yards.

Nobody said a thing about this post. But go back and read past posts. All people around here ever complained about was the "backwards safety and the magazine". Was a reoccurring theme.

You may not have but if I had a dollar for everytime I read about someone complaining about it, I could buy a gunbroker 527 at this point.

I have a 527 in .22 Hornet. It has an absolutely gorgeous walnut stock and accurate to boot. I also have a 550 Safari in .416 Rigby with a CZ brown colored laminated stock. This rifle is amazingly accurate with my 400 grain soft and solid loads. I'm truly sorry to hear they are no longer in production. I HAD a 550 in 9.3x62 but I was dumb and let it go a few years ago. Bad mistake!

I bought one of the new 600s in 223 with the collapsible stock and the 16" 7 twist barrel. It takes ar mags and I kind of like it but the kids keep telling me they'd rather just have a light weight ar.

I'll probably sell the cz one of these days but it is a pretty cool little gun. Kids just don't like working the bolt but for the price of the cz the kids are right, I could have built them a sweet light weight ar.

Have (2) 527’s in the safe. One factory 22 hornet that was procured at Cabelas off the used rack and had been punched k-hornet and a .223 that’s been rebarrel by pacnor to 25-45 sharps. Both are very accurate and low recoil rifles.

Mostly I heard about the safeties on the old .22s. Thought it was silly. I have guns with all kinds of safeties, and without any. Even my poor old brain doesn’t get confused by any of them. To me, moving the 527 safety to the off position is, similar to the wing safety on old FNs, like pulling back a hammer.

No doubt they botched it. No long guns to sell for 18 months and counting. I thought the 550 was too clunky. They did need to modernize to keep up but dealing with the recall has really hurt them

Here's a link to a good bit of info (and B.S.) on the 527, Hornet and K-Hornet.

Also info on the mag and how to make it easier to load. And how to lengthen it a bit for more modern (longer) bullets.

I had talked to James Calhoon who is a real expert on these guns.

My 527 in .22 Hornet has accounted for three fall turkeys, and two coyotes, in the past 3 years. It is a perfect turkey killer, IMO, and will never be sold.
