I also have a $50 Weaver V-7 bought in the late 70's that still works great. All of them have seen a lot of scabbard time. And yes, I have 6X Leupold on my 6.5 Swede If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles
