Have a pre 64 Winchester in 30.06. This rifle is a safe queen, and was sired in 1941. It is around 90% fit and finish. Will start bugging lronbender for pictures soon. Will be asking $2,400 for this one. One heck of a classic, Alaskan gem! As usual, I prefer pm's above all else. First "I'll take it" in a pm is the winner.
Thanx, bhtr

It's in nice looking condition. But the buttplate elimination and d & t job for scope mts are a major deduct value wise. Goodluck on the 2400 price because of where you are maybe you will get it..mb

Thanks, Magnum, appreciate the input. I have spent the last couple of hours doing a considerable better job of value comparison and research on this one. You are correct 100%!
With that said I will correct my post... Thanks,
bhtr

Mark your welcome. Big thing is the quality of that rifle is about nonexistant in today's world unless you pay plenty. I also believe it's worth more to an Alaskan than down here. Somebody will get a great hunting rifle with no frigging plastic anywhere on it...mb

I wish the lighting of the pics was a little better, but I can't download them to increase brightness and get a better look. I don't need one (I inherited one thru the family and have shot a bunch of deer and elk with it), but just would like to learn something by looking at a high condition pre-war gun.
I've lurked here for years but recently registered, so the forum won't let me pm you. I might be able to receive. Don't know. How long of drive are you from Anchor Point?

One needs 50 posts to send/receive PMs. There is a thread in the bottom forum (talk to webmeister) to make enough junk posts to get there.
Bearhuntr is in Slowdotna.

Thanks ironbender. I don't have that many constructive things say to post 50 times without making a fool of myself or have the FBI visit. :>) Can't leave my number here so maybe bearhuntr can pm me his. I used to frequent the AOD forum under another name but the covid madness killed it for me. I've forgot what it's like to be the new guy.

The rifle can do a lot, though (I suspect) your experience had something to do as well That round will will take care of any 4 legged critters passing your way, whether you invite it to dinner or have a disagreement with. Well done sir!

For anyone else's attention: I heard of another pre 64 in 30.06 for sale on the Kenai radio's "Tradio" program yesterday. One can go online and pull up the information. I have no other information on this other than that the online version will give you the phone number of the seller. The program is not available on Wednesdays or Sundays.
