My Dad finally drew after applying for a long time. It was a fun time and a great hunt. I went up and scouted for/with him in the summer and then went back and scouted about 10 days before his hunt. Was sort of a bummer as Dad was fighting a hell of a cold the couple days before he killed his ram. He finally just decided, sick or not, he was going after this ram when I showed him some pictures:

A few days later:

Was an 8 year old ram, over 40 on the long horn and officially net scored 183 and change.

Myself, wife, and Brother all have max sheep points in Montana and both nephews have some points as well...always thinking we should draw. Can't complain though, we've drawn 2 goat tags, 2 ewe permits on second choices, 1 ram tag and 4 moose permits between us.

A couple years prior I helped a NR friend of mine from Alaska with his ram when he drew Montana. Was again a really fun hunt, looked at lots of rams. Finally found a small group of 3 rams, one real broomed ram, one unbroomed and a 3/4 curl.

My buddy liked the unbroomed ram and killed it. The broomed ram was killed the next year and was 14 years old.

My buddies ram, 10 years old, over 40 on the long horn and scored 179 and change. Just a really nice looking ram all around.

Yours truly with my friends ram:

Keep the dream alive guys.

I think our point system is great....you have a chance no matter what....instead of knowing that you have to wait till you are 95 to draw a tag.....bob

Yes, you can buy a MT Unlimited unit tag every year, but if you kill a ram you have to wait 7 years before you can apply again.

I also have maximum Bonus Points and have unsuccessfully applied in a drawing unit every year since 1983.

However, I was lucky in the early '80s, and before the 7 year wait rule, and killed these 3 Bighorn rams from a couple of the Unlimited Units...
