I’ve got a tikka 595 in .223 that I’ve had since the late 90’s. I’ve used it for coyote hunting and general vermin shooting on and off through the years but it has been in the closet for several years now. I have an interest in using the rifle again but cannot get excited about using it with its slow twist rate and being forced to use low BC bullets. I thought about having it rebored to 6x45 (legal for deer here) but the older proprietary tikka mags and stock make that a little difficult. Or I can put a fast twist barrel on it but again same issues as having it rebored. Or I can try to sell it and get something that I find more interesting.
What are your thoughts on this? What would you do?

Easiest thing to do would be sell it and put the money towards something you will enjoy shooting. Jmo. I love tikkas, but would rather have one in a caliber and twist rate that will work for the type of shooting you will be doing. It would cost you more to put a good barrel on it than it would for a new Tikka. Gunsmith rates have gone up quite a bit in the last couple of years in my area. just like everything else.

Keep it , cause as soon as you sell it , you will want it back for some stupid reason , and the desire to get it back will bounce around in your head till you are mad at yourself for selling it.

Can you get a shouldered pre fit for it? You get the twist you want and don’t pay the smith for the labor.

The 595 is not commonly found anymore. I've been looking for a LH 223 or 7mm-08 for a long time and can't find one. I had one of each and like a dummy, sold them.

I know they are no longer made and pretty rare but the thought just keeps running through my head. If I don’t use it what’s the point? I don’t get emotional attachment to things I own. But I also have suffered buyers remorse in the past. This one has been weighing on me for a while.

I've been eyeing up a 595 ( at least I think it's a 595, pre t3 anyhoo) in 7mm08 at a local shop. Absolutely mint. I just don't "need" it seriously have no use for it, but they are SMOOTH operators! By the way, I'm kind of a new member, and am trying to get a hold of Micky up there in the thread. I can't PM yet. ???

I'd sure like to know where that gun is located if you don't buy it Gallahad. I had one about 20 years ago and gave it to my nephew. I've wanted another one ever since.

I'd sell it and get exactly what you want. Life's too short.
