So calling about a 99 and asking if they'll ship to a C&R. Guy says sure, they just need to confirm the date to make sure it's a C&R gun...

So then he uses my web site (www.savagelevers.com) to verify that the mfr date of the gun I told him is a C&R is actually a C&R.

Gotta love it.. grin

I actually did.. and he still used it.

Picked up a 1938 barrel band 99H in 30-30, fairly clean except for a thin tang crack (sigh) which I'll epoxy up. Very honest and pleasant gun shop to deal with for a change, guy insisted on sending me more pictures before selling it to ensure it was okay before he shipped it.

Price was right with a minty Lyman 2A on it.

There is a satisfying zen to that. And he obviously did not realize he was in the presence of Savage Greatness!

Dang.. that moment when the friendly brown truck brings your new gun - and it's 5 minutes after the wife got home.

Came THAT close to sneaking it in. grin

And the box is full of packing peanuts. I hate packing peanuts.

I never need packing peanuts. They should be outlawed.

Danged static cling on them makes it ridiculously hard to clean up AND I think they suck for packing. Bubblewrap is far, far better.. and even newspaper does a better job.

The only good use for packing peanuts was to put a bunch of them in one of the other guys work van when they fouled up and didn’t lock it. Yes, I had it done to me several times. It’s a damn mess.

Color is light on the second picture.. top one shows the color correctly. Even has a bit of figure in the buttstock.

Close but no cigar. smile

There is always "Dang Honey, that guy I sold it to returned it ! [sighhh]" Unless of course, like most of us, you rarely sell anything grin

Good thought, but she knows I almost never sell anything (well, except books and calendars grin).

I just tell her I got it at a great price (which I did), and she's okay with it.
