Just cleaning house for a week and then shifting to keto for a few months of weight loss.

I did 3 weeks of the lemonade diet once. Nothing but lemonade made from real lemons and real maple syrup. I lost over 20 pounds but it came back quick. Seemed like everything functioned better for several months afterwards though. I also didn't have spondylitis flares for several months after but I had a he'll of a painful one during.

Eventually, the tide turned and she rapidly lost the battle in like one month. The tie in to your post is that I assume the fasting was promoting autophagy and the body was consuming the cancer cells. Well for a couple years anyway.

Did some fasts up to three weeks about 25 years ago. The hard ones to stay with are 3 days or less.

FWIW I'm in my 7th week of low carb, pretty much a keto plan. Mine is purely to reduce blood sugar level, which it has, but I have lost 18 lbs. in the process.

On March 7 I had an A1c of 11 and blood sugar of 269. Both of those are bad, so the docs said. I could not see a diabetic specialist for another 5 weeks, and no one gave me any instructions so I made up my own program. I figured if I don't put anything in my bod that it can use to easily make blood sugar, the blood sugar level will have to go down.

It has worked for me. Blood sugar 93 this morning, close to my average. It dropped to 132 within 24 hours. My carb aim is as low as possible, usually between 10 and 15 grams of carbs per day. I have at least a table spoon of olive oil each day, meat or fish, more fat than protein and some low carb veggies, usually raw. Eating meat and veggies is easy for me, no cravings. Hardly ever hungry so total calorie intake is pretty low.

After 3 months I plan to gradually add in a bit of carbs (love huckleberry pie!) and adjust as needed for my bod.

My other goal after the fast and transitioning to keto OMAD, is inflammation related. I like to go on scuba diving trips when I can and I had to recently reschedule a trip due to a knee arthritis flair up. After high school/college sports and active duty injuries, it was inevitable eventually but if I can get the inflammation down enough, hopefully, it won't stop my adventures. keto is naturally anti inflammatory. If you combine it with fasting, it's even more so. I've never done one of those food allergy tests but I hear dairy and gluten can add to arthritis problems as well. Eating meat and veggies should be easy on the gluten side, but avoiding cheese and butter on keto would kinda suck. Butter may not be as bad because I hear ghee has the inflammatory parts removed.

I've only done a couple days before but my favorite thing to break the fast is a protein shake consisting of macadamia milk and collagen protein powder. It's liquid and has no fiber so easy to digest. It's also got some healthy fats and protein to wake up the gut. I wait about 2 hours after that for all the gastric gears to turn and then eat a meal.

When I did Atkins diet 20 years ago I craved pasta and bread. Not this time, not a trace, so this eating plan has been easy. I have not avoided bacon nor butter, but do avoid most processed food. We have salmon and venison, a big garden and lots of free eggs: not exactly privation rations!

I like skillet meals with postage stamp bacon pieces, onions, and spinach cooked down in the bacon grease (or skip the bacon and use olive oil). Salt and pepper and throw in brocoli, carrot chunks (very few), slices of pepper, balls of venison burger, whatever you have. Good vittles.

Or if you have to do the diet, reward yourself with one now and then with a little melted butter on the fun parts.

I do. 3 day fast once a month. Add a pinch of salt or a good electrolytes in your water. I supplement with some bone broth.

As far as weight loss goes, if you do keto you’ll plateau. A good kickstart is a cheat meal. Eat a bunch of fries. You’ll be amazed the next day when you see you’ve suddenly dropped a couple of pounds.
